LIPI: Jakarta Not There Epicentrum Potential Earthquake


ANTARA _ Indonesia Institute of Sciences (LIPI) said the city of Jakarta has no central potential (Epicentrum) earthquake.

"Jakarta in Java earthquake history, no Epicentrum earthquake. But Jakarta is affected by the earthquake that occurred in Java, such as earthquakes Pengandaran," said Deputy Minister Earth Sciences LIPI, Ir Dr Hery Harjono a news conference at the Office of LIPI, Jakarta, Tuesday.

Hery says Jakarta does not have the potential epicenter for the city of Jakarta's position are not on a slab fracture of the earth.

Although no potential at the epicenter, Jakarta will be affected by the earthquake in Java, so that infrastructure and building construction should also follow the rules of earthquake-resistant.

On that occasion, Hery explained predicts the possibility of an earthquake that would occur in areas of Lampung, Bengkulu and South Sumatra.
